Calm weather led to the UK’s National Sand Yachting Championships being cancelled on Brean Beach this weekend.

The two-day event began on Saturday morning and although the light winds initially allowed two races to be completed – as pictured here – but the rest of the regatta’s action was halted by the calm conditions.

Mike Young, Chairman of Brean Sand Yachting Club told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We had more than 30 of the UK’s leading sand yachters in Brean, all vying for a place in the British team, so it was a disappointment that the weather halted the event.”

“Our next sand yachting regatta will be held at Brean in March when fingers will be crossed for windier weather.”
