Burnham sportswoman
becomes British biathlon champion
A
well-known sportswoman in Burnham-On-Sea is celebrating this week
after becoming British Modern Biathlon Champion.
Sara
Cox-Conklin, who runs Burnham-On-Sea's Swim and Sports Academy
with her husband Mark, travelled to Liverpool to take part in
the British Modern Biathlon Championships, where she won first
place in a gruelling contest.
Having
qualified for the event at the South West qualifiers in May, she
completed a 100 metre swim followed by a 1,000 metre run in a
super-quick time to scoop the top position.
Sara,
pictured here during the event, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "It
was a tough competition - I am very pleased to become the champion
in the Masters Ladies class, particularly because I was junior
ladies champion in the same event 26 years ago!"
She
is now considering whether she will enter the World Modern Biathlon
Championships, which are being held in Dubai this October.
