A weekend of fundraising by two Burnham-On-Sea youngsters has raised more than £200 towards their cost of attending the World Scout Jamboree.

Explorer Scouts Emily Burland and Rebecca Roseff held a coffee morning at Burnham’s Baptist Church on Saturday, pictured above, and a car wash on Sunday to try and raise enough cash to attend the 22nd Jamboree in Sweden.

Each has to raise £2,000 to attend the event, during which they will be undertaking community work.

Group Scout Leader Dave Burland praised the pair for their work and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The coffee morning was well attended and raised £60, while the car wash was also well supported and raised £180.”

“We would like to thank the Scout, Explorer and leaders who helped with the cleaning, and to all the people who brought their cars to be washed. We hope to repeat the event again at the end of the summer, once everyone’s cars are dirty again!”
