Leading Cadet Wookey, Able Cadet Tutton, Able Cadet Hayes, Cadet Edwards and Cadet Jefferies have won the competition every year since 2004.

“They are undefeated and have worked hard these last couple of months with a view to representing the area again, against other units in the South West of England,” a spokesman for the group told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Meanwhile, the Sea Cadet unit is looking for new recruits. Activities they undertake include boat handling, general seamanship with a focus on having fun, and encouragement towards gentle self discipline.

The group is also looking for adult instructor recruits, possibly with a Navy background. The unit meets on Mondays and Thursday evenings between 7-9pm, and anyone interested should drop in at these times.
