Brent Knoll garden centre boosts Poppy Appeal by over £13,000

-

Staff at Sanders Garden World in Brent Knoll have handed over a cheque for more than £13,000 to The Royal British Legion.

The cash has been raised from the sales of the charity’s poppies at the garden centre during the past seven years.

Peter Burks, General Manager of Sanders Garden World, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are delighted to have raised £13,363.08 for The Royal British Legion.”

“We’d like to thank all our customers who have bought a poppy from the garden centre during the past seven years and have helped us raise so much cash.”

“The money raised will go towards providing financial, social and emotional support to millions who have served, and are currently serving, in the Armed Forces, and their dependants.”

The Royal British Legion was founded in 1921 as a voice for the serving and ex-service community and more than 380,000 members continue to ensure that this voice does not go unheard.

Although the needs of serving and ex-service people have changed during the years, the Legion is still there to safeguard their welfare, interests and memory.

Sally Wingate, Poppy Organiser in Brent Knoll for The Royal British Legion, said: “We are thrilled to have received this donation from Sanders Garden World. We would like to thank everyone who has bought a poppy over the years for their support.”
