This week’s heavy snowfall in Burnham-On-Sea has created perfect cross-country skiing conditions along the town’s seafront, according to one resident.

Sara Cox-Conklin, who runs Burnham’s Swim and Sports Academy, strapped on her skis and found the snow on The Esplanade is “better than the Alps.”

Sara spent several hours skiing along the seafront on Tuesday, as pictured, and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The powdery snow cover here in Burnham today has been absolutely wonderful.”

“I’ve skied in most of Europe’s top resorts and I can confidently say that the conditions today are better than many top resorts in the Alps!”

“I never thought I’d be able to ski in Burnham, but the flatness of The Esplanade makes it ideal for cross-country skiing. This has been a wonderful Christmas present!”

Sara, who regularly competes in the World Masters Cross-Country Skiing 7k series and has been the UK’s second-ranked women skier, revels in the icy conditions and hopes the cold snap will last a bit longer.
