Stranded teenager rescued from incoming tide at Brean Down

-

A teenager who got cut off by the incoming tide at Brean Down was rescued by lifeboat crews this evening (Wednesday).

The 18 year-old boy became stranded on rocks near the wartime fort shortly after 5pm, prompting the launch of two lifeboats from Weston and a Coastguard team from Burnham-On-Sea.

“The lifeboat crew quickly reached the boy and took him onboard before taking him back to Brean beach where he was met by the Coastguard team,” spokesman Ian Jefferies told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The teenager was checked over and sent on his way after being given safety advice about the nature of the fast incoming tide at Brean Down.”
