Burnham-On-Sea man’s tattoo fundraiser boosts Help For Heroes

-

A former Burnham-On-Sea soldier is hoping to raise over £1,000 for Help For Heroes by having the charity’s logo tattooed onto his back.

David Keatley, pictured, is holding the sponsored tattoo at Burnham’s Inked Images tattoo shop in College Street on Saturday September 25th at 10am.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It makes me feel very sad when I watch the news or read newspapers seeing that another soldier has died or been injured whilst serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.”

“Having family members currently serving in the armed forces, I would like nothing more than to raise money to help in providing support for wounded servicemen and women injured during the course of their duty.”

He said: “After much deliberation I have decided to have a sponsored tattoo of the ‘Help for Heroes’ logo added to my back.”

“The logo comprises of an injured soldier being carried by two soldiers on a stretcher, with the words ‘Help for Heroes’ underneath and the medal to the side.”

“I do have other tattoos already, but this one will be the largest. It will be 12 inches by four inches.”

“Having lost friends at war, I want to help raise money for them and am unhappy that the government doesn’t do more to help them.”

He added that Burnham tattoo artist Brendan Neale has kindly chosen to provide his services free for the event.

The fundraiser is being supported by David’s partner, Dawn, and many of their friends, who are sponsoring him.
