Young Burnham-On-Sea tennis players achieve leaders awards

-

Six teenagers from Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club have achieved the English Lawn Tennis Association’s Junior Tennis Leaders Award.

The players, pictured here, completed a course developed by the LTA to encourage more young people into tennis volunteering and give them the opportunity to take their first steps into tennis careers.

Head coach Vinny Duddy, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “All the juniors put in a lot of effort, concentration and personal time to take the course.”

“I was particularly pleased that five of the six came from the Avenue’s own Tennis Academy. As well as doing the four modules, the juniors are also expected to complete a minimum 18 hours volunteering.”

“Now that they have completed their courses they will be allowed to assist with the coaching at the tennis club, under the guidance of the coaches, and will charge for their time, details can be obtained from the office.”

The next school holiday junior tennis camp will be run from June 1st-4th and will start at 9am and finish at 3pm daily. Details can be obtained by calling the club on 01278 782758.
