Burnham's MP gives her support to town's technology clinic

Burnham-On-Sea's MP Tessa Munt dropped in at the town's youth centre on Friday (June 11th) where she gave her support to its technology clinic.

The BAY Centre was pleased to receive a return visit by Mrs Munt, who had originally intended to attend the centre's 'Face your online fears' UK Online day on 4th June, but was unable to due to other commitments.

Tessa spent some time talking to the technology clinic's clients and discussed the UK Online strategy of getting more senior citizens onto the internet.

She told "It's fantastic for people like Val, who I met during my visit. She can learn how to stay in touch with her friends in France and Ireland whenever she wants without leaving her home town."

"It's so important to keep services like this, and great news that the BAY Centre can support itself financially with the help of little groups - but there is always the need for people who can give a little time when lots of us do not have much money to spare."

Co-ordinator Mike Lang added: "We are always pleased to see Tessa, who takes great interest in what we do at the centre. Her comments about volunteers are valid, and most groups at the centre can benefit from volunteer and financial assistance if available."
