120
athletes complete 2010 Burnham-On-Sea Spring Triathlon

Over
120 athletes took part in Burnham-On-Sea's Spring Triathlon on
Sunday morning (April 25th).
The
popular 'Super Sprint Triathlon', organised by Burnham Swim and
Sports Academy, involved the competitors swimming 250m (10 lengths
of the pool), cycling 10km and running 2.5km along the beach and
Esplanade.
The
event was won by Wies Wollants from Bristol in a fast time of
31 minutes, 37 seconds. Second was John Mason from North Somerset
(32:04), while third was Andy Denny from Weston (32:18) and fourth
was Richard Phillips of Bristol (33:28).
The
fastest local competitor to finish the event was Matthew Cooke
from West Country Triathletes in a time of 33 minutes and 47 seconds.

The
whole of The Esplanade and Seaview Road was closed to traffic
during the event between 6am and 9am.
Organiser
Martin Rogers told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The event was a great
success and we had strong support from entrants across the West
Country."
Burnham-On-Sea's
summer triathlon will be held in June.
