Internet awareness day proves a hit in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Scores of people took the opportunity to take their first steps on the Internet during a special event held in Burnham-On-Sea on Friday.

Burnham’s BAY Centre in Cassis Close was one of hundreds of locations across the UK taking part in the UK Online day.

The centre’s volunteers were kept busy all day, with double the normal amount of visitors dropping in at some point.

Jane Moreton, Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, was among the VIP visitors and told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The BAY centre’s UK Online volunteers worked extremely hard, helping visitors with their first click on the Internet.”

Co-ordinator Mike Lang added: “We were full to capacity all day, but managed to give most of our clients a useful start to online working.”
