Burnham-On-Sea classic car run raises £1,500 raises for charity

-

Dozens of vintage vehicles visited Burnham-On-Sea’s seafront on Saturday evening (June 5th), raising £1,500 for charity.

Almost 120 police cars, fire engines and valuable old cars and motorbikes took part in the 17th Vale of Avalon Vintage Vehicle Road Run.

Crowds of spectators flocked to see the vehicles, which were on show in the Pier Street Car Park, for over an hour.

Burnham’s Mayor and Mayoress, Michael and Maria Clarke, had the tricky job of judging them – and the Mayor’s Cup for the best vehicle went to a 1950 Ford Prefect.

“The crowds were down on some previous years, but we are delighted that the event has raised over £1,500 for MacMillan Cancer Support,” organiser Daphne Stone told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “We had some beautiful cars from all over the country taking part.”
