Highbridge volleyball players celebrate haul of silverware

-

Members of a Highbridge volleyball team are celebrating this week after scooping four trophies.

King Alfred School’s volleyball teams have won the haul of silverware after a successful season in the South West Junior Volleyball Grand Prix.

The school’s four teams have played in tournaments at Weston-super-Mare, Melksham and Bournemouth – and points have been awarded at each event and then totalled up at the end of the season.

The Under 12s team, consisting of Sian Marshall, Fiona Lodge, Emily Bailey and Gemma Smith finished runners-up.

The Under 13s, comprising Rachael Butler, Ruby Barrett, Georgia Edmundson and Abi Connick, also did well to finish runners-up in their age category.

And, not to be out done, the Under 14s (Fabbiha Tarafdar, Amy Curran, Kerri Smith) also finished second in their age group.

The Under 15s team – comprised of Ruby Sinnott, Jenny Yip, Darby Mears and Alivia Redman – were delighted to find they had finished the season on top as winners.

PE teacher Helen Pardey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “They’ve had a great season and played really. Well done girls!”

“Mention should also be made of Zoe Mackman in Year 11 who coached and assisted in every tournament,” she added.
