for a new wind farm on a site near Burnham-On-Sea went on official
display on Monday (August 2nd) and worried residents flocked to
the event to air their concerns.
Members of the 'No Huntspill Wind Farms' group held a protest
outside, as EDF Energy Renewables held the first of a series of
public exhibitions to provide more information about the project
to build nine wind turbines at Withy Farm near East Huntspill.
company hopes the proposed wind farm will generate enough power
for 10,000 homes a year.
Further EDF exhibitions will be held at East Huntspill's New
Village Hall from 10am-8pm on Tuesday (August 3rd) and then at
Burnham-On-Sea's Princess Theatre from 2-8pm next Thursday (August
Protester Ken Harrison told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We've had
lots of interest in our protest and over 120 people have given
us their contact details today to register their interest."
Dennis Garry, EDF Energy Renewables Development Manager
for the project, said: "Local opinion is very important to
us and we would encourage anyone who has a question or is interested
in the project to come along to discuss the plans with us."
