Burnham-On-Sea adult learners group raises cash for Secret World

-

A group of Burnham-On-Sea adults with learning difficulties has been raising funds for East Huntspill’s Secret World Wildlife Rescue.

The group has recently completed an NOCN Employability Award at Somerset Skills & Learning in Princess Street and ran an end-of-term coffee morning in aid of the wildlife charity.

“The course they attended was very successful because the learners were able to combine the skills learned in the classroom, which included health and safety, team work, interview techniques and timekeeping with their vocational training offered by their job coaches at Huntspill Projects, part of Somerset Work Preparation Service,” spokeswoman Gina Mear told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“By the end of the 15 week course most of the nine learners were offered interviews and work placements (some paid) with various local employers. The group hope to continue their studies at SS&L by doing a NOCN Certificate from
September,” she added.
