-

Somerset’s air ambulance landed in the centre of Highbridge today (Wednesday, May 18th) after a man was reported to be seriously ill.

Crews landed the helicopter on the former cattle market site opposite The Globe Inn just after 10am, as pictured here.

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance spokeswoman Tracy Bartrum told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called to assist a land ambulance crew when a man in his 60s was reported to have fallen ill in his home.”

After assessing the man’s condition, paramedics decided he could be taken by road to Weston General Hospital for treatment.

The arrival and departure of the helicopter in Highbridge attracted a crowd of onlookers.
