Asda
hands a £2,000 Christmas boost to Burnham hovercraft charity

Burnham-On-Sea's
rescue hovercraft charity has been handed a £2,000 Christmas
boost by supermarket giant Asda.
Eight
months of fundraising at the Highbridge store has raised £2,087
for Burnham Area Rescue Boat (BARB), which is one of its local
charities of the year.
Crewmembers
were presented with the cheque this week by store manager John
McGregor, Father Christmas and several Asda staff, as pictured.
Mr
McGregor said: "We are delighted to be supporting such a
worthwhile community charity that helps keep our local coastline
area safe."
The
money was raised during a series of fundraising activities, which
included store collections, raffles and tombolas.
A
BARB spokesman said: "We are hugely grateful for the support
of Asda, which has been a backer of BARB for several years. All
the funds raised will stay local and help towards training our
volunteer crews, maintaining our equipment and carrying out rescues
along Somerset's coastline."
