Visitors to Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercraft station will be able to pick up beach safety advice and find out how to become new crewmembers during a special open day being held this Sunday (May 22nd).

BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat) will be opening its seafront station to the public between 11am and 4pm at the start of the busy summer tourist season.

Beach safety information will be available and visitors will be able to meet BARB’s crew while viewing the charity’s hovercrafts and inshore rescue boat.

BARB is also currently seeking new volunteer crewmembers and those who may be interested in joining will be able to find out more.

“This is a great opportunity to find out about BARB’s work and also understand how you might be able to get involved,” said a BARB spokesman.

The 19 year-old rescue charity is seeking volunteer crewmembers from age 18 upwards for roles in all aspects of the organisation.
