Burnham-On-Sea’s MP and Mayor were among the dozens of visitors at the town’s rescue hovercraft station during a two-day Christmas fundraising weekend.

Scores of families got a chance to meet Father Christmas, who put in an appearance at the event on on Saturday and Sunday (December 17th and 18th).

MP Tessa Munt and the town’s Mayor and Mayoress, Michael and Maria Clarke, also called in to meet crewmembers and give their support to BARB (Burnham Area Rescue Boat), which runs the two hovercrafts.

“It was a busy, fun weekend and we thank everyone who came along to support us,” said a BARB spokesman.

BARB’s next event will be a fundraising New Year sea dip on January 1st at 12 noon.

Entry forms are available now from Burnham florist Flowers and Things at 5 Victoria Street, which is one of the supporting businesses.
