£5,000 donation for Burnham-On-Sea hovercraft rescue charity

Members of a Bristol sailing club have presented a £5,000 donation to Burnham-On-Sea rescue hovercraft charity BARB.

Bristol Cruising Club members handed over the surprise donation during a promotional event.

BARB crewmember Roger Flower had just given a short talk about the work of the life-saving charity onboard the Bristol club's boat, Sabrina 6, in the city harbour when the donation was announced.

"The money was part of late club member Peter Hinchcliffe's bequest. It was a wonderful, unexpected donation which will be put to good use by BARB in helping to keeping our hovercrafts running," said Roger.

Sailing club Treasurer Nick Doddrell is pictured presenting the cheque for £5,000 to BARB's Roger Flower (centre) accompanied by Club Commodore Dave Arberry
