Berrow couple ready to serve up charity teas this Saturday

-

A Berrow couple will be raising a cuppa for charity this Saturday (June 18th) when they hold a fundraising cream tea in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

For a fourth year, Steve and Hilary Cox (pictured) will be serving up hundreds of teas to the general public at their home – Newcote in Brent Road – from 2-5pm to raise cash for the worthy cause.

Hilary told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “So many people have been touched by cancer in some way or another, so this is a great way that they can support a charity dedicated to helping terminally ill people remain in their homes.”

“Last year we raised over £1,600 and hope to beat that. We have raffle tickets to sell and the 25 prizes are superb this year. There is a £200 Brittany Ferries voucher, two Haven Holidays, meals at local resturants, a private pod on the Weston Wheel, a golf day at Brean, food hampers, manicures, hair do’s and more.”

She added: “Our plant sale is going to be popular again too. Enthusiastic gardeners will be able to find all sorts of unusual plants, along with huge hanging baskets for sale. Our cake stall is always a sell-out and this year people are even pre-ordering their cakes to make sure they get one!”
