New £2.5m health campus opens for first patients in Berrow

-

A brand new multi-million pound health campus in Berrow has opened for the first time this week.

The £2.5million centre in Brent Road, pictured, welcomed its first patients on Monday (May 9th).

In addition to a new GP surgery for the practice’s nine doctors and 12 nursing and healthcare assistants, the site also includes a pharmacy, new NHS dental services and day services supporting people with dementia.

Development of the facilities has been jointly funded by Burnham Medical Centre and NHS Somerset. An official opening ceremony will be held over the next few weeks.

Burnham Medical Centre’s Management Partner Debbie Halls, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Everyone is delighted that building has now finished on the new Berrow Health Campus and that it is welcoming its first patients. They are superb, modern facilities.”

She added that the new development enables Burnham Medical Centre to provide health services to the people of Berrow and Brean in addition to those already offered at its Love Lane site.

Jane Barrie OBE, Chairman of NHS Somerset, joined practice staff, doctors and the project’s architects at a turf cutting ceremony in June 2010, as featured here.
