Mrs Jane Barrie OBE, Chairman of NHS Somerset, will unveil a commemorative stone to mark the official opening of Berrow’s brand new £2.5m health campus today (Friday, May 20th).

As first reported here by Burnham-On-Sea.com, the centre in Brent Road welcomed its first patients last week.

The new centre introduces significantly improved health facilities to the local community in Berrow – including a new GP branch surgery, 12 GPs and a 12-strong nursing and health care assistant team, plus a pharmacy, NHS dental services and day services supporting elderly people with dementia.

Mrs Barrie will be joining practice staff, doctors and the project’s architects at Friday’s unveiling of a commemorative stone at 1pm.

Dr Harvey Sampson, Practice Chairman, at Burnham Medical Centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “This opening brings our dream of the most modern healthcare facilities for Berrow to fruition. We are all delighted with the new Health Campus, which will operate alongside our existing facilities at Love Lane.”

The project’s architects and project managers, GVA, have designed the 14,000 sq ft centre using its rural setting as inspiration.

Ensuring sensitivity with the local environment, the building’s light oak effect timber cladding is enhanced with landscaping of reeds, tall grasses and linear trees.
