woman rescued from mud on Brean beach

Burnham-On-Sea Police, Coastguards, hovercrafts and lifeboats
were put on alert on Monday afternoon (January 10th) after a distressed
woman was spotted in difficulty in mud on Brean beach.
The middle-aged woman was spotted by police in a distressed state
walking towards the sea at 4.35pm, almost 150 metres from the
beach near Berrow Church.
Burnham Coastguard Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "Several
police officers at the scene managed to drag the lady safely back
from the mud and she was placed on a stretcher before being taken
away by ambulance for treatment."
The hovercraft and lifeboats were stood down en route to the
scene.
