Emergency roadworks cause three week closure of Berrow Road

-

Motorists are being warned of an emergency road closure in Burnham-On-Sea following the collapse of a sewer yesterday (Monday, September 19th).

Wessex Water is carrying out emergency repairs to the sewer in Berrow Road, near the Ash Tree Road junction, after it collapsed during the early hours of this morning.

The company says it is expected that Berrow Road will be closed for up to three weeks while the repairs take place.

A diversion is in place and motorists who normally use Berrow Road are being advised to allow extra time for journeys.

Wessex Water spokesman Ian Drury told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Businesses will remain open throughout the road closure and people will still have access to properties.”

He added: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused while the emergency repairs take place.”
