Speedway boss set to fight council elections in Brent Knoll

-

Brent Knoll Liberal Democrats have this week selected their candidates to take part in his May’s District Council elections.

Bill Hancock, 67, is a well known face locally who runs the Oak Tree Speedway Arena outside Highbridge.

Using his experience, Bill says he is keen to support local tourism and small businesses in our area to grow, including farmers who are facing difficult times with the sell-off of county farms.

“I will work to make sure people’s voices are heard whatever their political colour, and community work is at the heart of what I do,” he said.

Also selected is Fiona Cawley, 48, who lives in Highbridge with her husband and son, and moved here from London six years ago.

She is very community active and has extensive knowledge in the catering industry with expertise in food safety and particularly in budget control, which she believes is “very much needed” at Sedgemoor District Council! Fiona formed and chaired an action group in 2009 which achieved its goals.

Sedgemoor Liberal Democrat Leader Joe Leach told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am very pleased that Bill and Fiona are standing for Knoll. Both are local people and both will work hard if elected. I look forward to working with them on Sedgemoor in May.”
