Burnham-On-Sea resident Bob Nicholson is set to retire from his role as Chairman of Somerset Tourism Association this week after 25 years in the job.

Bob, pictured, will be chairing his final Annual General Meeting at Wookey Hole Caves this Thursday (17th November), marking the end of an era.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I am really proud of what has been achieved over the past 25 years. I’ve had a ball!”

In recent years he has overseen the growth of Somerset Tourism Association, which was previously a much smaller group known as Sedgemoor Tourism Association.

Bob received a Burnham-On-Sea Civic Award in 2008 for his work in promoting tourism in the Burnham area.

Members of the association will be thanking him for his work at Thursday’s AGM, which starts at 11am. This will be followed by a conference at 2pm, which will be open to the public. Speakers include Tourism Minister John Penrose, Ken Maddock, Leader of Somerset County Council and Tessa Munt MP. Tickets for the conference are available from Bob Smart at bob@visitsomerset.co.uk.
