Proposals to build up to 550 new homes in Highbridge have moved a step closer this week with the submission of the plans to Sedgemoor District Council.

Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported earlier this year that hundreds of new homes are earmarked for the 64 acre Brue Farm site on the south side of the town.

Hallam Land Management’s plans include new homes, a primary school, a day nursery, a park and a sports area.

The proposals received a lukewarm backing from the Town Council earlier this year, as we reported here. There was also mainly positive feedback from residents who visited a public exhibition on the plans, as reported here.

Sedgemoor District Council last year identified the land as its preferred location for housing growth in the Burnham area. The application will shortly be formally registered by the district council and the public will then be able to submit feedback on the scheme.
