£25,000 of building machinery stolen from Burnham-On-Sea church

Burnham-On-Sea Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after £25,000 of building machinery was stolen from outside the town's catholic church earlier this week.

The incident occurred between 5pm on Monday 6th June and 6.30am on Tuesday 7th June.

Unknown offenders gained access to the rear of the building, where building is currently being carried out, and two pieces of plant hire were stolen.

PC Sean Searle told "The first was a 1.6 tonne Takeuchi digger, grey in colour with a purple counter weight and dipper arm."

"The second is a 1.0 tonne Terex 4 X 4 High tip dumper, yellow in colour, with a purple skip."

"It is believed that the offenders would have to have used either a large transit van and trailer or a 7.5 tonne lorry/flatbed."

He added that the two pieces of plant machinery are valued collectively at approximately £25,000.

PC Searle appealed for anyone who saw any suspicious activities in the area at the time to contact them via 0845 456700, quoting Guardian reference 66564/11.

Buillding work at the church started in May, as reporeted by here.
