Burnham fire crews called to second deliberate car blaze in 24 hours

-

These were the scenes in Highbridge late last night (Sunday, November 13th) as Burnham-On-Sea fire crews tackled a second deliberate car fire in the space of 24 hours.

Crews were called to a small lane running by the Apex Park sewage treatment plant at 10pm, as pictured here.

They found the car well alight and extinguished the blaze with two hose reel jets, but the vehicle was completely destroyed.

It is the second similar incident on two successive nights for the Burnham crew.

A fire engine was also called to Lympsham on Saturday evening at 9.50pm – as reported here – to tackle another deliberate blaze.

Burnham Police are investigating whether the two vehicles were stolen and are also assessing whether the incidents are linked. Anyone with information has been asked to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
