Appeal for helpers issued at Burnham-On-Sea Carnival AGM

-

An appeal for more helpers has this week been issued by this year’s team of organisers running Burnham-On-Sea’s carnival.

The appeal was made during the carnival’s annual general meeting, which was held on Wednesday evening (April 13th) in Burnham’s Ritz Social Club.

Carnival Chairman Phil New said: “To make sure the carnival is a success, more members of the public are needed to volunteer as marshalls and collectors. The carnival might be months away, but planning for it is underway already.”

This year’s Burnham carnival – which will be held on November 7th – will be the final event to be held on a Monday night following the recent decision to move to Fridays from 2012.

At this week’s meeting, Malcolm Borland was re-elected Carnival President while Phil New was chosen as Chairman and Jamie Hawke is this year’s Chief Marshall and Vice Chairman. John Hodgson is the 2011 treasurer while Jan Paul is secretary.
