Carnival night collection increases to £11,298

A
total of £11,298.86 was collected for charity during Monday
night's Burnham-On-Sea Carnival - up almost £2,000 on last
year.
Andrew Bryant from Burnham Lions Club, who was among the collectors
at the successful event, said the bigger crowd numbers were partly
responsible for the amount collected, which was up from
£9,400 last year.
"We
are delighted that this year's collection was up significantly
on last year. I think it was boosted by the dry weather increasing
the crowd numbers and the fact that we had a total of 130 collectors
out on the night," he
told Burnham-On-Sea.com.
"We are grateful to everyone who donated and thank them
for their support."
The cash will be used to help pay insurance costs for next year's
carnival, and the rest will be split between local charities.
