Judging of Burnham and Highbridge Christmas lights underway

-

Judging of Burnham and Highbridge’s official Christmas lights competition has been taking place this week.

Deputy Mayor Ken Smout was joined town councillors Dennis Davey, Pat Burge and Tom Nicholls in visiting over 30 of the best displays across the two towns.

Ken told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The standard is once again very good this year and we’ve been impressed by the wide range of displays on show. It’s great to such a lot of effort being put in. The displays really bring out the Christmas spirit among residents.”

On Tuesday evening (December 20th) the judges visited Burnham’s Trinity Close, as pictured, which last week featured on national television, as we covered here.

The results of the competition, which is organised by Burnham and Highbridge Town Council, will be announced on Burnham-On-Sea.com during the next few days.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the best displays in several categories – best individual display (£25, cup and certificate), runner-up individual display (£10 and certificate), best group entry (shared shield and certficate) and best business window (£20, cup and certificate) and runner-up business (£10, cup and certificate). The prizes will be presented at the council meeting on 9th January.
