Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards called to Weston mud walker

Concerns for a man seen walking half a mile from the beach across mudflats prompted a call-out for a team of Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards on Tuesday (August 30th).

Five Burnham Coastguards were called to Weston beach at 4.10pm to back up Weston Coastguards after a seafront walker alerted the emergency services.

"The man appeared to be in no apparent difficulty, so observation was kept on him until he returned to the beach and safety advice was given," Burnham Coastguard Ian Jefferies told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

But the busy afternoon was not quite over for the Coastguard team. "While driving away from the scene, we came across an elderly man lying in the road who had fallen over and stopped to call for an ambulance," added Ian.
