Fishermen land haul of cod during Burnham-On-Sea competition

-

A haul of cod was reeled in during Burnham’s first sea fishing competition of the year on Sunday (January 2nd).

A flotilla of more than 15 boats headed out into the Bristol Channel for the day-long contest, which was organised by Burnham Boat Owners Sea Angling Association.

The members were rewarded with a haul of over 20 cod, although most were of a small weight.

The competition was jointly won by Craig Dumbleton and Mark Bowden, who both caught cod weighing 3lb 9oz. Second was John Batt, third was Jeff Clarke and fourth was Aarron Devey.

Competition Organiser Craig Willis told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was good to see a large amount of cod being caught, even if the sizes and weights were poor. It’s good to see the fish returning.”
