Police described the two occupants of this overturned car as ‘very fortunate’ after they escaped unhurt following an accident on the outskirts of Burnham-On-Sea last night (Tuesday, November 29th).

The Vauxhall Corsa flipped over near the junction of Church Road and the Mark Causeway in Bason Bridge shortly after 10pm. The vehicle dramatically ended up on its roof on a stone wall.

Police, fire crews and an ambulance were called to the scene, but neither of the shaken occupants needed medical treatment.

“It all happened in an instant – we weren’t going fast, but the car just seemed to lose control on the slippery road,” one of the occupants told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

Two fire engines from Burnham and a fire rescue tender from Taunton were initially sent to the scene after concern that one person could still be trapped. Crews made the vehicle safe.

Police diverted traffic around the scene until a recovery service took away the vehicle.
