Coastguards investigate upturned dinghy washed up at Brean

-

Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards and lifeboats were called out this morning (Monday, August 8th) to investigate an upturned dinghy found drifting in the sea off Brean beach.

The boat, pictured here, was spotted by a beach walker 50 metres from the shore at Brean before it was later washed onto the beach by the incoming tide.

“Burnham’s lifeboats carried out a search of the sea and surrounding area while details of the dinghy’s serial number were taken down and passed to Swansea Coastguard for them to carry out a check against their list of lost boats,” Burnham Coastguard Station Officer Steve Bird told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“In fact, it had come lose from a yacht several days ago, so we took the dinghy back to our station in Burnham and the owner will be collecting it later in the week.”
