Brave Burnham-On-Sea pensioner, 71, plans daring parachute jump

-

A brave 71 year-old Burnham-On-Sea pensioner is set to perform a parachute jump to raise cash for three local hospices.

Dot Anderson, a former Burnham nurse who now lives in Berrow Road, is planning to undertake the daring tandem parachute jump in April.

Dot will be visiting her family in Australia this Spring when she intends to make the daring leap from an aeroplane.

Dot told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “My nephew is an experienced tandem skydiver whom I have been hearing a lot about for several years. When I told him I was considering a fundraising jump, he thought it would be a great idea.”

“Fortunately, I’ve got a good head for heights but I’ve never done anything like this before. It will be an experience to remember!”

Sheila Fautley, Dot’s fundraising spokeswoman, added: “Dot is a brave and courageous lady who wants to raise a good sum for three local hospices. Age is no barrier for a fundraiser like this!”

The beneficiaries will be Charlton Farm Children’s Hospice, Weston Hospice Care and St Margaret’s Hospice Taunton.
