Highbridge resident convicted by court on drugs charges

-

A Highbridge man has been convicted of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

Luke Rovira, 25, of Alexander Court, Highbridge Quay, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis following two raids by police.

Community intelligence led police to execute a warrant in Highbridge Quay on Friday 9th September when a small quantity of cannabis was found.

Rovira was also on Crown Court bail for possession with intent to supply £4,525 worth of cannabis which had been seized on 24th September, 2010.

Last Wednesday (14th September), Rovira appeared at Taunton Crown Court where he pleaded not guilty. After a two-day trial he was found guilty and has been remanded on bail for a pre-sentence report prior to sentencing.

PC Ryan Dinham from Highbridge Police, who was the officer in charge of the case and was present throughout the trial, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We will continue to target drug dealing and associated crime wherever and whenever we come across it or are told about it. We will do everything in our power to prevent this illegal trade and bring offenders to justice.”
