Man arrested after police execute drugs raid in Highbridge

-

The search warrant was executed at the same address in Market Street where four people were arrested earlier this year.

The police team at Burnham were supported by local Special Constables in the raid. Jacob Monaghan, 21, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis.

Police also executed another drugs warrant in Lympsham on Friday evening where a cannabis cultivation set-up was removed and destroyed and a large quantity of cannabis was seized. Police are making further enquiries to arrest a local man.

Earlier this week, four men from Highbridge answered police bail and were charged with a variety of class A and B drug offences following a drugs warrant in Market Street, Highbridge on March 4th.

Sergeant Ian Kennett told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The message is clear. Our local communities have told us that they don’t want drug dealing in their town and we are committed to tackling this issue.”

“Illegal drugs wrecks peoples lives and drug taking leads to crimes being committed to finance addictions.”

“This is the third positive warrant we have executed at the same premises in the last year and we will continue to take positive action whenever there is the intelligence to do so.”

“I am grateful for the support of the community in helping to make Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge safer places.”
