A popular Burnham-On-Sea councillor is recovering in hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Cllr Eric Gill suffered the attack on Friday and was rushed to Weston Hospital where he is making progress.

Eric’s wife, Gilli, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Eric suffered a mild heart attack on Friday and is still in Weston hospital.”

“The support shown to me by people and groups in the town has been absolutely wonderful.”

She added he will be kept at the hospital for further tests this week.

Former Mayor Eric, pictured, is a long-running councillor who represents Burnham South on Sedgemoor District Council and is also a town councillor.
