Burnham-On-Sea health salon offers a fishy treat for your feet!
There's definitely something fishy going on at a new Burnham-On-Sea
beauty salon which has opened in the town this week.
Feet Spa in Abingdon Street is offering the latest health craze
- a garra rufa fish pedicure spa.
The treatment involves customers immersing their feet in warm
water tanks filled with tiny toothless fish called garra rufa.
People with skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema benefit
the most since the fish nibble away the dead skin but leave the
healthy skin intact.
The fish dont have teeth but suction cup mouths, which
gently remove dead skin.
The treatment is being offered by Fishy Feet Spa at £10
per 15-minute session or £20 for 35-minute sessions.
The spa's Charlotte Jeffrey told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "We've
had a lot of interest already and most people who try it love
it and are shocked by the results."
The spa will soon have 120 fish in each of its four tanks and
hopes to soon offer hand treatment as well.
One of the first customers was Keith Screaton, pictured here,
who told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "My work means that I'm on my
feet all day, so it's incredibly relaxing to have this treatment."

In addition to removing dead skin, the deep cleansing treatment
also helps stimulate blood circulation and muscle relaxation.
Garra rufa are small tropical fish that live in the river basins
of Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq.
The new spa is located at 16 Abingdon Street and is open on Mondays
to Fridays from 11am-7pm, Saturdays from 9am-5pm and Sundays between
11am-3pm. For more, call 788822.
