Burnham fire crews called to flat as rainwater gushes through ceiling

-

Torrential rain caused flooding in the Burnham-On-Sea area on Friday afternoon (November 4th).

Fire crews were called to The Esplanade at 4.15pm after rain water gushed through the ceiling of a flat, causing damage.

Fire spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A large amount of water came through the ceiling and crews were called to the flat underneath to help stem the flow of water, salvage property and check for structural damage.”

Several roads were also flooded with standing water in Brent Knoll, Burnham and Highbridge.

Fire crews were also called to the junction of East Quay and Fore Street in Bridgwater where a 50 metre stretch of the river wall was at risk of collapse due to the pressure of rain water.
