Former world boxing champion Frank Bruno was a surprise visitor to Brean Beach on Monday (June 20th) when he took part in the filming of a children’s TV programme.

The celebrity boxer was the VIP guest during an episode of ITV’s The Sooty Show featuring long-running kid’s duo Sooty and Sweep.

Frank was filmed making sandcastles with the famous puppets, including one shaped like a crocodile, pictured here.

During another point in the filming, onlookers were amused when Frank was unable to duck in time before an ice cream landed on his head!

A large production team were on hand for the filming, which took place at Brean Cove over the period of five hours.

“Frank seemed to really enjoy his visit and showed a real talent for making artistic sandcastles!” said Burnham-On-Sea.com photographer Jason Adams. “He was also happy to sign autographs and chatted freely with passers-by during breaks in the filming.”

Bruno, who boxed from 1982-1996, won the WBC Heavyweight championship in 1995. He frequently appears on TV and has this year appeared on ITV 1 chatshow The Alan Titchmarsh Show in April, and Harry Hill’s TV Burp in February.
