Burnham and Highbridge twinning group visits French twin town

-

A party of 22 members from the Burnham and Highbridge Town Twinning Association have just returned from a visit to their French twin town of St Georges de Reintembault, the second largest town in the Canton of Louvigne du Desert.

The party were greeted by the Mayor and other members of their twinning committee when a model of Burnham Lighthouse was given to them and speeches and refreshments followed.

The following day the group visited St Malo on the coast, which was a much-enjoyed historical trip that included the ramparts around the old town, and plenty of shops.

The group also visited an agriculture show, a flower show, and enjoyed communal dinners with the hosts.

“A very enjoyable trip was had and the twinning group always welcomes new members. You don’t have to be fluent in French but some knowledge would be an advantage,” said Chairman Mike Mansfield, who can be contacted on 01278 7832371 for details of how to join.
