Funds were raised for Burnham-On-Sea’s rescue hovercraft charity BARB when its volunteers took part in a nationwide fundraising day for independent lifeboat stations on Friday (February 18th).

Dozens of people visited BARB’s seafront station and several events were held in the Burnham area on ‘Go Orange Day’.

Children at East Huntspill School and Pre-School joined in the fun by dressing in orange clothing when they held a sponsored fancy dress day. The BARB crew called in to make a special visit with the Light Of Elizabeth hovercraft, as pictured here.

Among the other ‘Go Orange Day’ fundraising events was a coffee morning at The Towans Care Home in Berrow Road.

And at BARB’s seafront station, the charity’s two rescue hovercrafts were on show and visitors were able to discuss beach safety with crew.

BARB Chairman Mark Newman said: “It was a very successful day and we are very grateful to everyone who gave us their support.”

‘Go Orange Day’ is an annual nationwide fundraising event for independent lifeboat stations around the Britain to raise awareness of their work.
