and photos: Burnham-On-Sea Half Marathon beats the heat
270 runners took part in Burnham-On-Sea's
annual Half Marathon today (Sunday, October 2nd) despite sweltering

the event in a good time of one hour, 20 minutes and 16 seconds
despite searing temperatures of 27°C (80.6°F). Full
starting gun was fired at 11am at Burnham's BASC Ground and the
runners wended their way along Love Lane and Queens Drive, before
turning left along the A38 towards Brent Knoll.
then paced through East Brent, Lympsham, Wick Road and Red Road,
before returning to Burnham along Berrow Road - with a detour
along Saxondale Avenue and Links Gardens to avoid the area where
emergency sewer repairs are ongoing.
Winner Mark Wills, pictured right with the second and third finishers,
told Burnham-On-Sea.com: "The high temperatures meant the
conditions were very challenging, but I was delighted to win.
There was good support all along the route."
