2011 Highbridge Festival Of The Arts Day 1: Results and photos

Highbridge's 64th annual Festival Of The Arts got underway in Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday (March 2nd) with a day of dance competition.

Dozens of talented youngsters from the ages of three upwards took part in the first day of competition in The Princess Theatre, where 19 classes took place. The first day's results are available here.

The dance classes will continue until 6th March, with dozens of entries covering ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, cabaret and Greek.

Speech and Drama then takes centre stage on 7th and 8th March. Poetry, Prose and Choral Speech will be performed on stage.

Singing and instrumental music will then take over for the final part of the festival from 9th-11th March.

Maureen Phillips, the festival's General Secretary told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event promises to be a superb festival and added that the public are welcome to attend the daily sessions, which start at 9.30am and approximately 2pm.
