Highbridge hairdresser unveils plans for fundraising Himalayas trek

-

A Highbridge resident is set to take part in a trek across the foothills of the Himalayas in order to raise funds for a local hospice.

Verity Wood, the manager of Francesco Hair Salon in Highbridge, is training to complete the trek during October 2012 in aid of St Margaret’s Hospice in Taunton.

“I am taking part in what will be one of the most challenging tasks of my life – walking 15km a day for five days in the Mandalas and the foothills of the Himalayas, which will include steep ascents and descents and altitudes up to 3,200 metres,” Verity told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It’s a fantastic charity to support as, unfortunately, we all know or have heard of someone that has used or will need to use them.”

She added: “My mum and fiancé are also taking part in the trekking challenge with me as she works for St Margaret’s Hospice, a charity so close to our hearts.”

“I am appealing for as much help as possible in raising a minimum of £3,200. I will be holding several fundraising events in the salon between now and next October as well.”
